¡Hola!—Soy Profe Garcés.
   Â
New to Roosevelt High School for the 2016–2017 school year, I am currently working toward my Masters in Education at the University of Minnesota. Raised in Midland, Michigan, I grew up in a fantastic public school system and am a believer in free, quality, public education. I studied Spanish and fine art as well as the core subjects through high school. After graduating at the top of my class at Midland High, I attended Michigan State University, graduating summa cum laude in 2007 with degrees in Spanish and Social Relations. While at Michigan State, I studied abroad in Florence, Italy (2005); Cáceres, Spain (2006); and Madrid, Spain (2007) where my love of languages was confirmed all over again.
In early 2008, I moved to Minneapolis and began some continuing education work at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD). When I first moved to the Twin Cities I lived not far from MCAD in The Wedge neighborhood of Minneapolis. In 2014 my husband and I purchased our first home in the Kingfield neighborhood. We continue to enjoy the proximity of many great grocery stores and farmers markets, bike shops, and museums. When I’m not studying or teaching, I enjoy traveling, riding my red and orange folding bike, taking photographs, knitting, reading Scandinavian crime fiction, and renovating my home.
